A very special birthday party
Saturday evening was a very special one for the team of Crown Catering Cambridge in that they joined their Chairman, Roger and his wife Christine to celebrate their joint 70th birthdays.
The party was held at Park Paddocks, the Newmarket based UK headquarters of Tattersalls, the world’s oldest bloodstock auction house. The venue was transformed by the talented teams at Think AV, Tattersalls Events and Tollys Flowers.
With a slight retro theme to the evening, 200 guests were greeted with reception drinks and hot and cold canapes before sitting down to a 3-course dinner, kicking off with a trio of ‘retro appetisers’: prawn and white crab cocktail; coronation chicken ballotine; and a leek and potato vol au vent, topped with a crispy quail egg. For the main, guests were served the most amazing and perfectly cooked roast fillet of beef with Yorkshire pudding, duck fat roasted potatoes, a red wine sauce and a selection of traditional vegetable side dishes. The impressive and stunning dessert included a selection of mini puddings and sweet delights with some old-school favourites such as bread and butter pudding, steamed chocolate sponge with pink custard, treacle tart and French fancies.
After dinner, guests moved from the main building into the Sale Ring to dance the night away to an extremely entertaining Rod Stewart tribute act and DJ music from John Hinds.
It was a great evening and a pleasure for the CCC team to cater for the founder of Crown Catering Cambridge and his friends and family
On request of Roger and Christine, guests were politely asked not to bring presents but instead to donate to their chosen charity, Great Ormond Street Hospital and Children’s Charity. At the time of posting, donations totalled in the region of £5,000.
Thank you to everyone involved for their help in making it an enjoyable and hugely successful evening.
